Summer days driftin' away, to uh-oh those summer nights...

Summer is coming to an end. The warm nights shooting live on the levee was one of my highlights of the summer. Free concerts, hot dogs,BBQ,bud light with lime(Mmmmmm),and just an all around fantastic time.
This summer I didn't get a chance to cover every night, but I enjoyed the nights that I was able to work. The meet & greets, the fireworks, watching everyone just having a great time. I love to watch people. I am a people watcher. “You shouldn't be so nosy” I have said to my husband more than once. I don't listen to conversations, I watch how people interact. A start of a laugh,a little girl teaching her baby sister how to do her ballet moves,an old couple holding hands as if they just started dating. Its the little things that sometimes people overlook or they just don't have time to notice. That's what I capture as an photographer. With my camera in hand I just see things a little differently than I would if I just looked at it. I have to slow down and stop to capture things. Even typing this out Its a reminder to myself to stop and smell the roses daily.

Ryan Miller of Guster^ said at one point I don't know if it's like this for all of you but I see the statue of liberty all the time. But this is awesome. "One of the coolest venues we have ever played"
The city museum is like "a playground for kids and stoners alike"
I love their humor off stage and on.
One of the best shows I have ever been too.

Yes I am totally rad...thanks for asking...

I slept until 8:00 this morning. My son and I laid in bed watching Super Why & Clifford together until we decided we should probably move sometime today. I sent a message to my neighbor Jen(holla at cha girl) asking her what time the free laundry started. Once in a blue moon my apartment complex offers free laundry day. AKA fit as much crap in your hamper as possible day. Also know as pulling clean clothes off hangers just to clean them day just because. OK maybe not clean clothes, but we make sure we get our money worth. So we get all our blankets together and walk on over to our lovely free laundry day. I had about 4 loads. Not too bad. I chatted with my neighbors for a couple hours. (30 minutes to wash, 45 to dry) Let me tell ya it's exciting stuff. Well my entire day consisted of washing & drying. At lunch time I checked my twitter. Yes I am that cool. I have a twitter. I tweet. So like I said I checked my twitter and noticed that gettottallyrad(http://twitter.com/gettotallyrad) was totally having a contest today. A contest to win the amazing rad actions that I have been drooling about for such a long time. So I get the idea to take my camera over with me while I get the last load of laundry. I take a piece of paper and write “will work for TRA” totally rad on a piece of paper. I ask my son to hold it. It was nap time so this wasn't as easy as it sounds. He did inform me that we were going to win so I trusted his almost 3 year old judgment. So I snap the pic. Run my free tester actions that they offer on their site.(http://www.gettotallyrad.com) Tweak them to my liking and place them onto my facebook. It was the facebook contest. Well my son was right. WE WON!!! ow ow. Ram a lama ding dong..bang she bang she bang(ok song not so rad,but my son think's I am.

Lets get personal..petunias.

Every year around this time I decide to play a little with my curb appeal. I live in an apartment so my whole "curb appeal" is that I plant flowers in my two flower boxes that line the outside of my apartment. Very chic... That's as good as it gets.
So like I said I plant flowers in my boxes. Well today was the day that I took my 2 3/4 year old son to lowes to pick out flowers and to buy some soil. Anytime I say your a bit too little to pick that up he reminds me " don't worry,I'm going to be three soon" in the most grown up way. Oh how time flys.So like I said I took my almost 3 year old to pick out flowers today and he informs me "all of these flowers look sad, they need water to make them happy again". I told him he was correct and we picked out some pitiful pink and purple petunias(say that 10 times fast,2 pts for those who tried it) in hopes of reviving them. We sat together in the dirt and planted our "beautiful" flowers.

While I was doing so I was remembering all the types of flowers I have planted there in the past 3 summers(and how the squirrels devour them) In June 2007 I planted purple daisy-like flowers. I still have yet to find out what they were. I took photos of them.

June 2007 was the time that I bought my 1st digital camera and the time that I decided that I was going to take my hobby and make it a career. That photo was the taken right after I started my business. I remember it was raining and I had my "big girl camera" and I held an umbrella over my camera terrified that I would get my camera wet. So 2 years later I'm typing in my blog about how I had dreams of being a professional photographer. July 2007 I took photos of Fair St Louis and sent them over email asking them if they were interested in my work for the Celebrate Saint Louis site.
IMGP1523-copy
They said yes and two years later I'm still shooting their advertising photos, just with a couple more perks...

(last year)

So 2 years later I'm still planting yearly flowers in my boxes and I'm still shooting for Celebrate Saint Louis (http://www.celebratestlouis.org/Celebrate/)
That hasn't changed, but both have changed me. Ok so not really. I just couldn't come up with a cheesy quote to finish this post.

Thanks for reading.

Adele & Rob-June 6th

I never put much stock into the term "soulmate". The older I get the more it seemed that everyone has to work so hard at keeping their relationships healthy, exciting and fulfilled. As I still believe this is true, I met a couple a few weeks ago that tweaked my view on soul mates a bit. I still am not sure how I feel about the term "soulmate". However I know that if there are such a thing in this world Adele & Rob are truly soul mates.

Now to the details. Adele & Rob had their beautiful wedding & reception at Chantilly-DeMenil Mansion(http://www.demenil.org) in Benton Park.(side note to couples getting married: Fantastic place to get married. Great vendors, service, food, etc Keep this place in mind)
